Update** I switched units to the heated building from the regular one which I have been at for the past year. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I've never had any issues whatsoever and the staff has been helpful as always. I definitely recommend it here!! Alexis was very helpful and informative, especially since I had a million questions. I definitely recommend it here. They also have great hours, and security definitely pays attention when the access hours are closed. A++

I originally rented this unit to store many of my late spouse's personal effects that I didn't know what to do with while I moved around and built a new life. I visited the unit periodically to sort through things and winnow down the collection to the things most sentimentally and biographically important. Over the ten years I had this unit with A-1 Storage, the security was top-notch, the facility was always clean, and the staff were kind and helpful on those rare occasions when I had to ask them anything. A-1 Storage provided me a great service and I'm thankful.

I've been renting a storage unit from A-1 Self Storage for quite a number of years now and have found them to always be very professional and responsive. Today, I had to rent a second unit and Holly, who has only worked there since November, was extremely knowledgable and helpful. The whole process took less than an hour. I'd highly recommend A-1 Self Storage for anyone in the Portland area looking for some storage space.

I rented two units at separate times from A-1 over the span of about four years. I absolutely loved doing business with this place. The way the head hancho did business had a small town family business kind of feel, in the middle of a big city. I had a living arrangement for a while that I would work during the day, then come straight to the unit when I got off work and grab my bag and tent and go to my little campsite in a secluded forest area to sleep, wake up n pack, then stop by the unit in the morning to drop my sleeping bag and tent and backpack off and take public transit to work. wasn't the most convenient arrangement but at the time I was very thankful to A1 for not minding me coming by twice a day or more every day like that. That was about the only thing I could do while houseless and without a car trying to work hard labor and get ahead, it's harder than folks think just because of a lot of practical and logistical inconveniences, but I did it still and A1 made it lots easier. When it was the heatwave in 2021 that got up to 115 I had nowhere to go and I was out there walking all day, the only place I could think to go was the storage building, and I went and sat in there and it was quite a relief. Very cool compared to the outside where my head felt like it was going to explode and my eyes felt like they were getting ready to pop out too. Never felt heat like that in my life. I must have stayed in there for 5 hours just sitting by my locker and reading my book. I have a lot of random happy memories at this place and I'm going to miss it. I'm moving down to New Orleans where I'm a local musician, maybe I'll write a song about my adventures with A-1 storage.

This is one of the best storage facilities I have used in the last 25 years and I have used many of them. They are very secure, with individual alarms, and they have more than reasonable rates, which is why they keep customers and rarely have many openings. Also, if you keep really good communication with the staff when you are experiencing financial difficulties, they really try to look after you and help you. In my experience customer service is nearly always friendly and helpful. Yes it can be frustrating at times with only one freight elevator, especially if you happen to be doing a lot of moving when lot's of people are there or you get discourteous people that will not close it up for other's to use when they finish moving stuff out of it. If it makes sense for you and they have an opening, check it out!
